I have the pleasure of calling Britt Lakin a friend.  She is also the exclusive commercial photographer for Two Peas in a Pod Homegrown Designs.  (Yes, those are all of her shots across the top of my page here and along the sidebar - fabulous aren't they?!)  It all started HERE.  She has the ability to always get the shot exactly as I envisioned and most of the time, surprises me with how it is even more amazing than I dreamed.

Britt does portrait and wedding photography here in Columbus, Ohio but she has also travelled across the country to some pretty awesome places to photograph weddings and such for clients.  If you love photography, it is so worth following her on Facebook or following her blog.  Eye candy galore.

Two Peas in a Pod

Sewing, planning, writing, prepping...so many things to do before we launch big with our sewing pattern line.  This weekend, we had our big photo shoot with the awesome of awesomeness photographers, Britt Lakin of Britt Lakin Photography. I love Britt because it's like she gets inside my head and totally sees in my minds eye what I was dreaming for the shot.  For every single item, 16 or so, we prepped and set a "scene" for that shot.  Plus lifestyle shots to be used elsewhere for marketing, etc.  In all...it was a lot.  It rained, we had models, here, there, in town...it was crazy!  But fun in a great way!  Can't wait to tell you more about the great mud river and how we almost "lost" Britt to the muddy mess!  Soon, I promise!

I'll keep updating with more of our progress as we go along...plus I have a little tutorial coming as well for a quick and easy maxi dress!

{capturing birthday memories in photographs}

Once upon a time, long, long ago...I was once this small. And no, this is not me pictured above.

But that was many moons ago and this week as I celebrate my "37th" birthday - it's a fun time to reflect back on so many previous birthday memories.  My girls were talking about last year when they completely draped the driveway in crepe paper so I couldn't pull in when I got home from work.  Then there was the year my husband had them write Happy Birthday on my cake with my age and had them cross it out and correct it twice...oh, that was SO funny.  Not.

Capturing memories in photographs is really important to me.  It's one of the reasons why I love this blog because it gives me reasons to take and share casual snapshots and stories that I think my kids might enjoy reading someday when they are my age and looking back.  I wish I was a better photographer...like Britt who took all these awesome snaps on this post.

Well, my birthday surprise to you today is...a wonderful photography session from Britt Lakin Photography.

What I LOVE about Britt is that she is very passionate about the environment.  At home she composts, recycles, reduces, reuses, shops for items with sustainable packaging, and drives a hybrid.

"I feel that it is very important for businesses, even small ones, to be sustainable.  It excites me that I can extend my efforts into my photography business."

As a consumer, I love supporting businesses that are green.  I know that my dollars are going towards supporting a green industry and that my demand for businesses to act in sustainable ways will put pressure on ALL businesses to act green in order to stay competitve.  Britt does it because it's just who she is and I love that!
